Devlog #3

Good evening,
This week has been a little lighter than the last few, but we certainly have some new stuff to show off this week.
Our top image shows some new decoration for our forest that Hen made, featuring a pumpkin in anticipation for the season..
This week, I started work on our blocking system.
Although difficult to decipher in a mere screenshot, I've added a new parry system to accompany a basic block. In short, there's a short amount of time (where the player will flash blue) that you can parry enemy attacks, and for the end of the attack, it will be a normal block, which will deal chip damage to the player and knockback enemies slightly. This also incorporates a new posture system, which rewards the player for skillful parries and punishes for spamming block.
I also added plenty of new visual feedback to plenty of systems, like enemy attacks and player damage.
Enemies also will now get angry when you hit them. They weren't before, they would just keep getting hit unless you looked at them.
Down below is some concept art Hen has come up with that I wanted to share. Once we started working on our bosses, we wanted to add a special killing blow that would utilize some fullscreen cinematic slices and dices, looking something like this. For some unnecessary context, this was something random Hen drew for an 'art break.'
Lastly, I made a short but (hopefully) sweet song for one of our main characters, Kemar. Here's the link:

Will the cinematic final blow be done in Mono Rojo's true proportions or is the little chibi monkey gonna go to town? Also, if you're still trying to name the shark, I'm noticing his head is a whole shark. Maybe a play on the name hammerhead shark. Like "Sharkhead" or something like that.
We would likely have a balance of the two. This can kind of be explained with the screenshot above, in that Hen uses simple facial features, like the 'chibi monkey,' on a much more dynamic body.
I also love your name suggestion. It's true and simple.
